1 MINITAB Guide (Chapters 1, 2, 3, and 8) Enable Commands Before you can enter commands into the Session Window in MINITAB, you must see an MTB> prompt in your Session window. If you do not see an MTB> prompt, you must "Enable Commands". Session Window must be the active window. Then, select Editor > Enable Commands. Sort a Column Sort data in c1 and sort in c2. (ascending order) MTB > sort c1 c2 Sort data in c1 and sort in c3. (descending order) MTB > sort c1 c3; SUBC> desc c1. Unstack Split data in c2 into separate groups (columns) using values in c1. Creates one new column for each distinct value in c1. MTB > unstack c2; SUBC> subscripts c1; SUBC> after; SUBC> varnames. Frequency/Relative Frequency Table MTB > tally c1; SUBC> counts; SUBC> percents. Blood_Type Tally for Discrete Variables: Blood Type Blood Type Count Percent A 18 36.00 AB 4 8.00 B 6 12.00 O 22 44.00 N= 50 Bar Graph MTB > chart c1; SUBC> title "Distribution of Blood Types for the 50 Patients"; SUBC> percent; SUBC> bar. ! If you leave out the percent subcommand, MINITAB produces a frequency bar graph . ! If add the decreasing subcommand, MINITAB produces a Pareto chart . Blood_Type Blood Type Percent O B AB A 50 40 30 20 10 0 Distribution of Blood Types for the 50 Patients Percent within all data.
