Website: http://my.asu.edu   COURSE MATERIAL: 1. Textbook: Microeconomics by Boyes and Melvin, 7th edition 2. Copies of ECN 212 exams available at Hayden Library Copy Center under my name and this course number. COURSE OBJECTIVE: The study of economics is the study of the choices that must be made because resources have alternative uses and are scarce. Without scarcity, there is no need to economize – and therefore no economics. In microeconomics we focus on the activities of individual decision makers as they go about the business of life. At the semester’s end you will have a better understanding of how markets work, how prices are determined, why shortages and surpluses occur, why profits are important and how government is involved in the economy. HOMEWORK : You will be assigned 4 homework sets. These assignments must be turned in during class or in the lab during lab hours. They will not be accepted in the Economics Department, in my office, or in a review session. Check the electronic Blackboard for lab hours and locations. Homework assignments may be turned in early but, LATE HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES .
