02:45 Psychoactive Drugs : those compounds that alter consciousness and affect mood 4 Principles of Psychoactive drugs: o 1) Drugs, per se, are not good or bad there are no “bad drugs”; it’s the behavior and the way the drug is being used that’s referred to heroin and cocaine are used medically, but can have harmful effects if abused o 2) Every drug has multiple effects all psychoactive drugs act on more than 1 part of the brain so produce complex psychological effects every drug that affects brain most likely effects body as well (i.e. blood pressure) o 3) Both the size and the quality of a drug’s effect depend on the amount the individual has taken by increasing dose, increase in same effects noticed at lower drug levels o 4) The effect of any psychoactive drug depends on the individual’s history and expectations individual’s attitude can have major effect on his/her perception of drug experience history attitude and setting needed in order to assess effects
