Policy critique -Feminist critics fight to challenge how public policy has reflected masculine view of world -Male orator = front of political wisdom (has cause narrow discourse- public, agonistic, competitive) 2. Narrative critique -Focuses on women as readers and writers and how narrative in general interacts with female consciousness -Male writers have distorted female characteristics w/ deviance, simultaneously ensuring masculine perspectives would dominate literature -Women cant refuse to read patriarchal literature bc its everywhere “patriarchal programming” -3 rd wave feminism focus on greater emphasis on diversity issues while committing to valuing women’s individual experience -Feminist critics recognize power of autobiography, -Autobiography important in dealing with self-identity, authority, experience 3. Representational critique -Female’s portrayal in culture (especially TV, cinema) -3 “looks” in Hollywood film look of camera, look of audience, look of character
