INSIDE CRIMINAL LAW 2 Inside Criminal Law The purpose of criminal law is to set boundaries in society and to establish public morality. The law is put in place so that it can protect the public from harm from others. Another reason law is in place is so that inanimate objects cannot harm people. When someone violates a public morality, they are punished to the extent deserved. Criminal law is based upon holding people accountable for their actions. If the law were not readily available, order would not be upheld in society. There are many different sources of written American law. One of the major sources is the Constitution. There is the main Constitution which is federal, and then each state and city will have a separate Constitution which is lesser compared to the federal one.
