Anik 1 Ahm Anik AAS 116 Professor Leronn P. Brooks May 5, 2017 Black Power In the article SNCC, Black Power and Independent Political Party by Hasan Kwame Jeffries, the idea that misconception about a naming can change the whole meaning of a movement very interesting. The Black Power movement was a huge step forward of the civil rights movement. “Political Scientist Charles V. Hamilton explained that…the slogan meant organizing independent, African American power bases…permit African Americans to participate in political decision making”. (SNCC, Jeffries). Black power movement had a clear vision and the vision was provided rights for the African Americans. The movements intentions were never start hate against another race. I like how the authors writing style is very detailed. Every even regarding the Black Power movement has great depth of details in the articles. The article clearly explains, despite the clear message from the Black Power movement “a cloud of confusion enveloped the slogan shortly after it surfaced.
