Unformatted text preview: 1. A centurion declared that Jesus was the "Son of God" (Mark 15:39). What is the meaning and significance of a Roman centurion making this declaration? The centurion said that he was the Son of God because he went through all the pain and fear of being crucified and fulfilling the scripture that he must be the son of god. Any normal man would have probably caved in and stop claiming that he was king of the Jews. This declaration was essentially the final claim that Jesus had finally proven that he was in fact the son of god. 2. Matthew relates the "Sermon on the Mount" (Matthew 5-7). What is the meaning and significance of the Sermon on the Mount for contemporary society and for you? The sermon on the mount is basically to instill hope and faith in people. He is saying those who are sad and meek and poor of spirit will eventually have these feelings relieved. It also says be happy and rejoice, and meek and poor of spirit will eventually have these feelings relieved....
