GMFC Impasse 2 Abstract Firms and unions can coexist under normal conditions, but sometimes when a contract expires there are certain issues which arise that both sides find difficult to overcome. GMFC would love nothing more than to conduct business as usual and simply continue to produce a product and earn an income and, perhaps, have the union members pay a co-payment on their medical insurance. The increasing cost of medical insurance to employers is a large burden which cuts deeply into profits. The union members think their hard work is making millions for the firm and that hard work should be rewarded with an increase in wages by $.10 per hour. They are unwilling to increase their own costs and both sides find themselves on the cusp of either large losses due to decrease production or a strike. Here we will explore alternatives to negotiations which are at an impasse.

GMFC Impasse 3 Strategy to resolve an impasse between GMFC and the union It’s been fifteen years since GMFC and the union has failed to ratify a new contract before the old one has expired. This time around, both sides find themselves unwilling to meet the other’s demands. In such situations it is important to understand the point of view of the other. Understanding, knowledge, compromise, and bluffing are the tools needed in one’s arsenal to overcome the impasses of failed negotiations.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
