Checkpoint Debate Outline Topic: Should bilingual education become a mandatory component of American education? Thesis: Even though many people do not believe that bilingualism in American education is important, American education will benefit from bilingualism because America is already a diverse nation, with a growing minority population whose needs cannot be ignored. In addition, America lags as the nation behind the global population which usually requires bilingualism as a standard in their public education systems. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, it is the fact that when cultures understand each other, both socially and verbally, tolerance goes within the school system and into the external society. I.
