In reading the article “Thank God It’s Thursday,” written by Bryan Walsh I found I agree with his opinion of a four-day workweek. Instead of the typical five-day workweek like most states, Utah has decided to experiment with the idea of packing in more hours in fewer days. This four-day workweek has come to be known as the 4-10 schedule. Many have found this new schedule to be extremely beneficial in several aspects of our society. The four- day workweek is beneficial to the environment, our economy, and also to those in the American workforce because of the work-life balance it helps to create. The four-day workweek has been found to be beneficial to the environment for several reasons. With the environment being such a highly emphasized issue right now, this factor should be given critical consideration. A four-day workweek requires workers to come to work one, sometimes two, fewer days a week. This is one day less they must commute, and also one day less businesses are heated, cooled, or lighted. Because of this, the 4-10 schedule has been found to reduce energy use by 13% (Walsh 58). Workers
