Biology 105C Fall 2007: Study Guide for Exam 3 This is only a GUIDE. As such, it is only a starting place for studying. You are responsible for all material covered in lecture. Use your textbook as a reference guide to help you understand your lecture notes while studying. Remember, the more active your studying, the more effective. Passive studying like reading and rereading over and over won’t help you to really KNOW the material. Don’t get caught in the trap of thinking you can recognize something on a test because it sounds familiar; it almost never works! Chapter 4 – Pedigree Analysis 1. Describe the difficulties in examining the inheritance of human traits. 2. Given a pedigree, identify the following modes of inheritance: autosomal recessive, autosomal dominant, X-linked (dominant and recessive) and Y-linked. 3. Describe the expectations for the behavior of traits in a pedigree of the above modes of inheritance.
