Unformatted text preview: Verina Atalla September 24, 2009 Professor Davis English 1030C Fredrick Douglass Speech After listening and highlighting important phrases and words in Fredrick’s speech, I realized that he put a lot of thought into what he wrote and how he wrote it. I think he used almost every form of persuasion we talked about in class: His target audience was the Negros of America whose ancestors were slaves Pathos: He brought a lot of emotion into his speech and his tone of voice showed that. HE got angry when he said “the sunlight that brought light and healing to you, has brought deal and stripes to me.” I felt like this sentence has so much emotion put into it and the meaning of the sentence is so strong that it really showed how much he cared for America to become a union over time.
