Assume that you are running the camera company for real, and not just through a simulation game. What would be the key elements of the organizational structure of the company ? Would you be centralized or decentralized ? Or what functions would you centralize and what would you decentralize ? What functions would you keep internal to the company and what would you outsource ? Would you create any organizations around a process (that might cut across normal functional lines), like new product development? Which processes ? Where would you utilize TQM or Six Sigma ? Discuss any other organizational approach or resource which you feel would be important for your company in executing its strategy. With each decision you make, please provide the reasons for making that decision. Because of the consolidated manufacturing functions in Taiwan, I would structure the organization centralized for the most part. It would allow all of the research and development, manufacturing and support functions like accounting and finance to be collocated with easy access to each other.
