Journal #6: Free-Response Lisa’s reaction to becoming crash test dummies: “Please let it be Volvo!” At the start of “Bart-Mangled Banner,” there was an exaggerated short of Dr. Huburt and Bart, where the Doc was giving Bart his scheduled “shot.” The lively background music starts, and the Doc is frantically chasing Bart everywhere attempting to give him his shot. There was a scene where Bart was walking along casually, minding his own business, until the Doc swoops by with an airplane and starts tossing over shot cartridges that resembling dropped missiles. What’s hilarious is that a few seconds later, hobos jump out of nowhere and scramble to take all the needles! This suggests that they homeless are too poor to afford medical treatment, and also notes how the American medical system fails to help everyone, especially those without money. This episode specified the attitude of the civilians of Springfield and of the entire United States on patriotism.
