Gender Discrimination 2 Discrimination comes in many forms; there is race discrimination, color discrimination, religion discrimination and many other types of discrimination. One discrimination in particular is gender discrimination; which is discriminating amongst your employees or potential employees based on gender. It also consists of employers classifying jobs as jobs for a male and jobs for a female. In some cases employers have had separate list for male and female when it comes to seniority. This is prohibited under federal law and is a violation of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, Title VII (Jentz & Miller, 2008). Gender discrimination dates back to the early 1800’s when women could not even vote (BraytonLaw.com, 2011). For an extensive period of time one thought only women could be victims to gender discrimination but over time the definition has been expanded to include men (Law. J Rank, 2011).
