It is imperative that every organization adopts a code of ethics policy. There is a necessity for an organization to state the expected behavior of all the workers. By adopting a code of ethics, an organization is promoting honest and ethical behavior, compliance with applicable government laws, rules, and regulations, increasing social responsibility, and improving management and corporate culture. (Rodriguez-Domingues, Gallego-Alvarez, & Garcia-Sanchez, 2009) Do business ethics play a role in a company’s mission statement? The answer is yes, because a mission statement is usually a statement of the company’s purpose. It describes what they hope to achieve and how they hope to achieve the goals. For example, if a company says, “integrity, honesty, and communication is important,” then at some point lack of all three results in scandalous acts.
