Dana Carroll 7/7/2010 Final Exam Response to "Triumph of the Will" The vast difference between a documentary and propaganda is clear. Some people might argue that "Triumph of the Will" is a documentary because the events in the film are real events and the film is just meant to document the events of the Nazi party. I believe that the film was presented in an informative manner in order to to manipulate the German people to support the Nazi party through the use of factual information. In order to classify the film as a documentary or propaganda the definitions must be clear. Propaganda is defined as "information, ideas, or rumors deliberately spread widely to help or harm a person, group, movement, institution, nation, etc (Dictionary)." A documentary is defined as "re-creating an actual event, era, life story, etc., that purports to be factually accurate and contains no fictional elements (Dictionary)." Truthfully the film does not contain fictional elements, the whole truth is not told, which disqualifies it's classification as a documentary. The
