Stockhausen (1928-2007) German Pioneer composer of electronic music and sound manipulation o Father Figure of Techno, Club, and Electronic music Music often seen as radical and experimental o Use of “Musique Concréte” ii. Musique Concréte The use of natural sounds and sound effects that are recorded and  manipulated electronically o Noises not produced by humans Stockhausen:  Gesand der Juenglinge Genre: Music concrete Song is made of a boy singing a Lutheran chorale with computer  manipulation and synthesized sounds iii. The Beatles:  St. Pepper’s Lonely Heart’s Club Band 1967 Beatle’s 8 th  album One of the first concept albums: o Conceived as large-scale work, not just individual songs Musique Concréte: crowd noise, etc. Influenced by Stockhausen’s ideas on sound manipulation
