Patricia Mora Chem 3BL Synthesis of 1,2,3,4 Tetrahydro-β-Carboline The purpose of this lab is to synthesize 1, 2, 3, 4 Tetrahydro-β-Carboline from tryptamine and glyoxylic acid. The reaction involved the condensation of tryptamine with glyoxylic acid, creating an imine intermediate. The result of the reaction is a carbon-carbon bond that leads to decarboxylation of the carbonyl group.
