Class Discussion 1 – Week 10 Discuss the type of people that are most likely to join unions. The type of people that are most likely to join a union are people that are unskilled and skilled workers that have had their rights violated by employers working for low wages and unfair labor practices in dangerous jobs with reasons to protect their jobs, wages, rights, and work conditions for the right to be treated fairly to continue to work for equal employment opportunity in the workforce. Examples are construction, electrician, public employees, college professors, government employees, fishermen, dock workers, hotel workers, craft and industrial workers, miners, policemen, restaurants workers and any persons wanting to keep jobs security and equal wage increases with counter parts according for the same working conditions and constraints that would be replaced by machines to reduce work in American jobs. Why have U.S. labor unions and businesses adopted an adversarial approach to labor relations? Union’s main reason to exist is to promote economic growth and prevent capitalism to keep America working in protecting rights for job security and fair labor practices for a decent living. Union serves as a way for long term employment to maintain equal right and empowerment for workers for job security. In both sides, the employer and the union are trying to achieve what are needed using labor laws to maintain power in a down spiral tunnel for equal justice. In labor
