Dean Schimmel February 25, 2010 Intro Photography Katie Perry Section D- Ivan Brave Little Jew Gerda Taro’s photographic style has transgressed from a “New Vision” style of “abstract forms” and “unfamiliar” techniques that encouraged socialist ideals into a photojournalistic approach that still maintained the forms of the “New Vision.” Being born in Stuttgart, Germany on August 1 st , 1910, Gerta Pohorylle had matured inevitably causing her to suffer from Jewish subjugation, making her politically active and an affiliate with the Socialist Movement. When Hitler was appointed chancellor in 1933, Pohorylle left Germany for Paris, where she worked as a photo editor. In Paris, Pohorylle with her new found lover, André Friedmann, a Jewish photojournalist that was also force to flee to France for protection, designed a tactic to make money by becoming fake “agents” for a falsified American photographer, under the name Robert Capa.
