Capstone CheckPoint The American Political system is not perfect, just like any other system of government there are pros and cons, but it is a work in progress and probably always will be. There are many areas that not everyone is happy with, but if it is not broken, why fix it? One of the government’s greatest strengths is the people and democracy. The people have a say in almost every aspect of our government, even though the voice of the people may not have a direct effect, like in the case of the Electoral College, they are still heard. The American people are kept at peace because they know that if they do not agree with a decision there is always a chance that their voice and vote will be heard. There are many routes they can take to change what they do not like, even if it is something as small as within their own community.

Unformatted text preview: The right of the people to affect our government is also its greatest weakness because the average American is not always as informed as necessary about the issues they are voting on. For example, a person may choose to vote because an issue they have an interest in is going to be on the docket, but they may be completely uninformed about everything else that they will be voting on. To change this, the voting system may need some upgrades. Instead of having the options listed as proposition 22, they should have a description listed with the proposition. This could help the uninformed voters become more informed. The only change that should be made to our current system of government is to delegate some of the Presidents minor duties to the Vice President. This could ensure that nothing gets glossed over, and may help thing get done more efficiently....
