LAR 322 I chose to review this article due to the fact that I love the outdoors, and am interested in studying plants. I have pursued this interest by majoring in Horticulture. I have personally studied how plants affect our environment and exactly how dangerous the loss of plant life can be. Deforestation is a critical issue that many people overlook. Although it may not seem as relevant in the United States, the destruction of native forests is becoming more and more of an issue in places such as Brazil and Costa Rica. The loss of new plant and animal species is a crucial aspect as to why this ongoing issue needs to be addressed further. Private and corporate logging companies are the main culprit of this issue and are only out to earn a dollar. They seldom stop and realize what exactly they are doing to the future of our planet. These companies see these beautiful and ornate forests as a source of income rather than some of the last untouched places on earth; they are simply destroying the uniqueness of our
