Speech on Eliot Ness Imagine walking in the park one day and discovering a body, a body that is cut in half between the head and the chest. This is what happened to at least ten victims in Cleveland. Eliot Ness, the director of public safety at the time, was in charge of the case. Today I will talk about Eliot Ness and his role as the lead investigator in the Butcher of Kingsbury Run and as a Prohibition agent whose evidence led to the conviction of Al Capone. In this speech, I will talk about his work as a Prohibition agent in Chicago, the director of Public Safety in Cleveland, and parts of his latter life. Eliot Ness led in a group later dubbed by the media as “The Untouchables” that cracked down on the gang of Al Capone in the 1920’s. The duty assigned to them was to gather evidence that led to Al Capone being the captain of the moonshining business in the Chicago area. “The Untouchables” was a group assigned to crack down against people illegally brewing alcohol that worked in the Department of Justice. Both bribes and death threats were offered to Ness and
