Schizophrenia 1 Schizophrenia Many people have heard about schizophrenia and have probably seen it on television. But do they really know what this unusual illness is? Many will claim that they do yet when it comes around they are very unprepared and unaware of it. Many people probably do not even know that there are different types of schizophrenia. There are some which are mild and yet others are very sever. Schizophrenia is a mental illness. It has many symptoms, which can lead to its diagnosis. Having so many symptoms though makes it hard to pin point this illness out. If it is hard for the professionals to diagnose it right away then one should think if they really know what schizophrenia is? What is schizophrenia? It is a chronic, severe and disabling brain disorder that has affected about one percent of the American population. It is a personality disorder when people hear unusual things and are very mentally disturbed. Their trust in others has been lost and they themselves are lost in some other world. There are different types of schizophrenia. Firstly there is simple of undifferentiated schizophrenia. This comes into effect very slowly and gradually the individual loses interest and emotion and their own logical train of thought. The person becomes more and more inactive as time passes by. This type of schizophrenia is not very severe. Secondly, there is disorganized schizophrenia. This is one of the most severe types of schizophrenia. It starts pretty early in ones’ life and shows interference with the simple things of life. For example, it may cause a hassle for one to do their daily chores or even their daily routine of showering, eating, and dressing. One might go into a state of a child and start to babble and baby talk. They can also become very immature and start to giggle at the wrong time of the conversation or even randomly. “It is a slide into total deterioration” (Kasschau p. 493). Thirdly,
