COURSE OUTLINE FRENCH 1Z06/1Z06E 2010-2011 H. GALLIER-MORGAN OBJECTIVES: This course has been created to develop the four language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing). The aim is to develop mastery of basic structures and vocabulary of the French language. On successful completion of this course, students should be able to communicate accurately in everyday situations. METHOD: The course combines audio-visual methodology (situational learning and oral practice) with computer-assisted instruction, comprising grammatical explanations and written exercises. Students are required to obtain a perfect score of 100 on all work assigned on the computer. WEEKLY SCHEDULE: The weekly schedule comprises five hours of classroom and computer work: two hours of oral practice with the instructor and three hours of computer-assisted learning. It is recommended that, in addition to the five hours, students devote three hours to private study . This component of the course corresponds to the time normally spent in
