Note thesimilarities and differences.SimilaritiesDifferencesboth groups of people are very involved in sportsand care a lot about them, this is seen with thetwins with volleyball and the boy with tracklife for israelis seems to be easier because theydon’t have to care about checkpoints or otherdaily life things while the palestinians are stuckin refugee campsboth groups of people are worried about terroristattacks, the palestinians have had people diebecause of invasions where the civilians only couldthrow rocks to defend themselves and the israelisare scared that they might be caught up in aterrorist attack because people are blowing upbusesEach person thinks that they are in the right andthat the land should be theirs. We see this whenthe grandson and his grandma go to the landwhere their old house was and they keep talkingabout how they think that land should be theirs. They are also very nationalistic and use dances, and songs to illustrate their compassion for thecountry. Both groups are very religious, while they followdifferent religious rituals and paths they still bothtreasure God a lot and it is included in their dailyschool life too and a lot of importance is put on it.They also have the same holy site of Jerusalem. The Jews are able to easily visit the holy site ofJerusalem, while the Palestinans are unable tosince they can’t leave their refugee camps to getthere. They seem very willing to attend the site aswell, while we’ve seen countless jews who aren’tas excited or thrilled about visiting these sites. Both groups have lost loved ones because of theconflict. Examples of this include the Palestinianboy who lost his 12 yr old friend and the other boywho also lost his friend because he was throwinrocks and the soilders and then they shot him for it.There are many opposing views on both sides. The two boys we are first introduced to havemoderate views on the issues, while most of thePalestinians we meet all have extremist views andhave very harsh feelings towards the Jews.
