Typically a journalist is too busy or does not have time Be familiar with the following media effects theories:- magic bullet hypodermic needle theory direct, immediate, powerful effect on audiences- limited effects pubic is viewed as independent and intelligent and can make up its mind concerning truth and falsehoods- two-step flow media effects opinion leaders then OLs effect masses- spiral of silence silent majority keep quiet if you think you are in the minority- agenda setting the media and news set agenda for what the public should be paying attention to- third person effect people think that the media effects others more than it effects themselves. Be familiar with examples of the limits of objectivity, or when strict objectivity wouldnt have gotten the job done....
