Eric Schneck Extra Credit – Movie Response For this assignment I watch “The Most Dangerous Man in America”, this movie is about Daniel Ellsberg an analyst for the Pentagon before the war in Vietnam. After learning of the constant lying of the US government Ellsberg decided it was time to reveal top secret documents that revealed these lies. The major events that transpired after the leaking of these documents are what make this event so significant to the journalism industry. After the Pentagon Papers began to be printed in the New York Times, the government issued a cease and desist order effectively censoring the NY Times from printing the remainder of the story. This was the first time the US government censored the press. This happened repeatedly as more and more newspapers printed parts of the story until they too were served with a censorship order. After finally receiving a decision from the Supreme Court allowing the press to run the stories, all the censored papers began to run the
