Most people do not like to watch a movie or read a book more than once or twice. However, people can often play the same video game for hours on end, repeating levels and characters. Why do you think this is so? I have had much experience in my lifetime dealing with people that get addicted to certain forms of media. First example is my sister; she will read the same book series dozens of times. She has probably read Harry Potter at least 20 times, and that is all seven books. My old roommate played World of Warcraft (WOW) for hours or even days last year and the rest of his life struggled. After reading the ‘Convergence Context’ box on page 340, It made me think of my roommate. Lying, problems with school, personal hygiene problems, and sleep disturbances were only a few of the problems that he had. IT made life with him very difficult but no matter what he just kept playing WOW nonstop and neglected all of his responsibilities. He eventually moved out and I found out that he finally

As someone who has before found himself playing a lot of video games it is very easy to become engrossed in a video game even though the level is the same. On page 340, it talks about mods, hints and cheats for games. This helps change game play and makes it easier to continue playing the same level or change things up just enough to make them more difficult. In the past I fancied playing Halo. The best part of these games is the online aspect that allows you to play with people all over the world. You can play by yourself or in a team and it allows you to test your skills against other players. I often found I would cream my friends on a regular basis, but that I still had a lot of work to do if I wanted to beat others online. I think people play games for many different reasons and there isn’t one specific thing that does it for everyone. I have slowly begin to grow out of gaming while some people like my ex-roommate do not....
