Test 1- The test will cover Chapters 9,10, 11, 12, and 13. The exam is 50 questions, multiple choice. Material will mostly come from lectures and power points. The book will be a good resource for better understanding the material we have covered in class. I. Chapter 9 – Thinking and Language 1. What is Thinking? 2. Understand concepts, problem solving, decision-making, judgment formation. How do we understand these concepts from a cognitive psychology perspective? 3. What is insight, and what are some obstacles in solving problems? 4. What are heuristics? 5. What is language, and how does it develop? Understand the various stages at which we learn language. 6. What are the two main competing theories in explaining how we develop language? Also, what is the "critical period” for language development? 7. Understand the relationship between thinking and language. How does thinking influence language, and vice-versa? 8.
