Fidati 1 Hannah Fidati English 1101 Ms. Nadon This I Believe Paper 29 April 2010 Purity in a Secular World In America’s popular culture, the media poisons itself with hyperactive sexuality that demands woman to give themselves away as objects for the sake of popularity and attractiveness. The media portrays secularization as the key topic in most TV shows, movies, and magazines, where the identification of religious and moral views has come to a screeching halt because of the reign for sexual demand. This leaves many women into believing the lie of having to be sexual and physically desirable just to be accepted as beautiful by the media and men. However, I am choosing to set myself apart from this popular trend within our culture and shift my attention back to religious and moralistic views. My personal decision has always been to ignore the bar of sexual caliber in society and stand out for what I believe is something far more important, my own walk with God. When I was a young girl, I vowed to take a promise of abstinence and to remain pure in my years before marriage. As an avid Christian believer, I take this very seriously and do not consider myself the normal teenage girl for having these beliefs, but rather a set apart and unique young woman. Call me old school, but I do not consider love to be found in sexual demand, but within the choice of loving someone on a far deeper level than
