Affirmative Action: Having an impact on minorities: -Affirmative Action helps to influence our society, by “drawing on a full talent pool in ways that can broaden the opportunities for social economic mobility for more Americans” (Gurin, Lehman, and Lewis 12). -Throughout the course of the 35 years that Affirmative Action has been in existence, it has “helped to enhance recruitment of minorities to retention policies that helps to encourage minority success for underrepresented minorities in school and employment” (Potucek 1). -Some of the underrepresented groups would include: Woman, African Americans, Hispanics (Latinos), Asian Americans, Native Americans, Arabs, and other minorities. -By providing opportunity to different minorities, Affirmative Action allows for a strong promotion in diversity among the student bodies and the work force in our society today. How it has an impact? Education -One of the biggest ways Affirmative Action has an impact is in our school system, from private schools to leading universities -Affirmative Action makes it possible for students to be chosen by their individual achievements
