Perspectives Notes 3/17/10 Hannah Fidati Dr. Calhoun Brown Dr. Haydel Teaching 1 st . part, of the semester talked about it was all of the foundations that have led us to where we are today. Constitution, Bill of Rights, Citizenship Status, etc. 2 nd . Part, the blessings of Liberty. *Contemporary Civil Rights Movement from a Different Perspective *Readings are very IMPORTANT *Read the Readings and bring discussion into class so that we can discuss it. *Use Readings also for Reflective paper. *Socialization (look at the “Cycle of Socialization” from the Harro Article) +In the Beginning, we come to this world and do not know anything but over time we begin to be socialized by people and culture. How it is that we think things should occur, what we think about rights and privileges. +Who or what are the things that socialize us. -Family, friends, teachers, experiences, media (TV, music), churches, schools, laws, government, social class, race, jobs, books, economy, gender, nationality, sexual identity, education.
