After the death of her mother, she realizes that she has to become the mother of the house, while also trying to help her dad through the tough times and to cope with the loss of his wife. Billie Jo matures a lot through the story and it is evident how much she has changed. Forgiveness takes a lot of maturity for someone her age and for what her father did, it takes someone who is very mature to forgive someone who has done that to you. This also shows why Billie Jo is the narrator, she is the most mature person in the novel, and she is the only one who could tell the story the way she told it. (292 Words)...
