Billie Jo was never really the child her parents wanted, and I think that this is why she is the main character and the narrator. We learn about the character of Billie Jo in her narrations. Unformatted text preview: does change throughout the plot of the novel. At first Billie Jo is just a normal 14 year old kid who live on a farm in Oklahoma. After the death of her mother, she realizes that she has to become the mother of the house, while also trying to help her dad through the tough times and to cope with the loss of his wife. Forgiveness takes a lot of maturity for someone her age and for what her father did, it takes someone who is very mature to forgive someone who has done that to you. This also shows why Billie Jo is the narrator, she is the most mature person in the novel, and she is the only one who could tell the story the way she told it. (292 Words)...
