HISPANIC AMERICAN DIVERSITY 3 Hispanic American Diversity The growing population of Hispanics in the United States continues to grow daily and are known as the highest and fastest growing minority group in the US. They are continuing to grow and play a large role in the United states and what they have to offer. This is because the Hispanics population has helped with our work force and the growing economy There are four Hispanic groups and the first one being that of the Puerto Ricans. Puerto Ricans are Spanish speaking and maintain a very close tie to their ethnicity. Puerto Ricans are generally very kind and open hearted. They greet people with the love of a hug and kiss on their cheek. The Jones Act of 1917 made Puerto Ricans living in Puerto Rico and the mainland American citizens. Puerto Ricans are very nice people and they always make one feel at home. Puerto Ricans usually greet people with a hug and kiss on the cheeks. Family life and the amount of time they spend with their family are very important to the Puerto Rican society as well as other Hispanic groups. Puerto Ricans usually call themselves Boricuas. Puerto Ricans are family oriented and usually live close to family members and spend much of their time with family. They attend church together as a family as well which is a very important part of their culture. Education is another thing that is very important for Puerto Ricans.
