Mayra Madrigal 7/21/2010 Week 1 1. I believe that in a way, yes. Companies may do it to be like other companies. They want to stay on top, "follow the crowd no matter what". They don't see what is around, or they choose not to, because they want to believe that realistically it is good for the company. Like stated in the article, if they are going to be downsizing or laying people off, why are they announcing it to the whole world. This alone makes the company seem weak, companies need to become more private. I do agree that CEO bonuses stay the same. They want to keep as much money in the company to make it look successful. Of course the "main" people of the company are receiving a bit more money when they are laying off people, but not
