AEE 452 – Aeronautical Engineering Design II COURSE OUTLINE Spring 2010-2011 Instructor: Assoc. Prof. Dr. D. Funda KURTULU Scidilla (sec1) Email: [email protected] Course Website: www.ae.metu.edu.tr/~ae452sec1 Course Description In this course mainly air vehicle design projects will be assigned to the student groups. Students are going to work in teams to establish a basic business case, identify customers, develop the system requirements, pursue conceptual design of the aircraft including trade studies and sizing to determine the most promising aircraft design. The course will try to replicate actual industry or government conceptual aircraft design studies and production as closely as possible. Course Goals The course is intended to help you to: 1. solve problems as part of a team 2. identify and formulate the design requirements for an aircraft 3. deepen your knowledge of topics relevant to aircraft design 4. describe an aircraft design that is likely to meet the set of requirements 5.
