William Pittman SSN: 817000368 9 – 26 – 2006 : Summary : In this experiment, we observed the relationships between pressure and volume, and pressure and temperature. For the first part of the experiment, Part A, we collected our sample gas(air) in a syringe and then injected it in small increments into a pressure reader. We collected data at each increase in volume introduced to the meter. As we increased the volume, the pressure increased. In Part B, we measured the pressure - temperature relationship of our sample gas. We did this by submerging a vessel filled with gas into a hot water bath starting with 100 degrees Celsius . This bath was prepared with a hot plate, the temperature was measured with a probe, and the pressure was measured with a modified apparatus of the same pressure monitor used in part A. The temperature in this experiment was brought all the way down to 0 degrees Celsius with the use of ice. From our observations, as the temperature decreased, the pressure also decreased. : Results
