Week 1 Practice Problems 1. In a study of bottled drinking water available in Ontario, researchers collected one bottle of each brand from local supermarkets. There were 23 bottles in total. The bottles were opened and the number of bacteria colonies per ml was determined. Then the bottles were re-capped, left for two days and the colony count was repeated On average, there were 38,000 times as many colonies after two days. The researchers concluded that it was not safe to reuse bottled water after it has been opened.
