James Lauria MW 1:30-2:45 Writing Assignment #2 Media has a very strong influence over everyday life. Any story can make or break a person. While media is a very necessary part of our society, it does not always portray fact. Quite often, there is media defamation, or propaganda. Since media is so influential, it is very important that companies responsible for delivering media avoid defamation from occurring, otherwise there will be mayhem. Unfortunately, this situation happens more than we know. More times than not, false media is not proven untrue to the public unless researched individually. In attempt to cover their mistakes and not lose the trust of their viewers, big name media companies will try to hide false leads that have been made public; leaving the average person clueless. Media affects everyone differently. Depending on how one is portrayed, it can be very beneficial but also very detrimental. This is especially true for those in positions of power. One example of this is politicians. Recently the politician Al Gore had a run in with the media that
