Rebecca Richardson Social Psych 350 Pro. Hult-Lunstead Portfolio Number 3 Entry #1 November 13, 2010 Social Norm Violation For my social norm violation I decided to walk through the entire grocery store backwards. This included in the parking lot and at the cash register. The social norm is for a person to walk through a store facing forward. I received a lot of stares and looks of confusion. Some people even smiled at me as I walked by them. This made me feel uncomfortable because even thought I was not doing anything morally wrong or hurting anybody I was still breaking an unspoken rule of society. Entry #2 November 18, 2010 In class this week we talked about the pro-social personality and how that affects our willingness to help others in need. We discussed how there are internal and external factors that influence who stops to assist and those who walk on by. Three of these factors are modeling, mood, and an altruistic personality.
