This memo will provide information on education needed for becoming an accountant, the job opportunities available to accountants, and expected salaries and benefits of these individuals. Education Most accountants need a bachelor’s degree in accounting, and many firms recommend having a master’s degree in accounting or a master’s degree in business administration with an accounting emphasis. Depending on the state you plan on working in, or the industry you plan on working in, there may be a need for further education or training. Typically becoming a Certified Public Accountant is standard for many accountants to help increase the number of job opportunities available to them. Job Opportunities
