Jerome Mckinzie CSIS 2101 Security is becoming more and more important for all the new-age technological innovations. Password protection isn’t as strong as it used to be. So a lot of people are turning to biometric security. The word biometric literally means “life”(bio) “measure”(metric). Its used to measure a person’s physical characteristics to identify individuals (technovelgy.com). With all the reports of identity theft and database security breaches a more secure form of security is needed. That’s why a lot of organizations are turning to biometric security devices. For years we’ve seen cool hi-tech gadgets in movies that scan fingerprints or irises for access to doors, computers and etc. Those things didn’t actually exist. However nowadays it’s becoming more of a reality than ever before. A Biometric Identification System was introduced to U.S. military in November of 2005 for the war in Iraq. (see right) This new i.d.
