Results Survey Results CORRELATION EXAMPLE H1 stated that there would be a difference between men and women in that men would find heroes to respect Authority more than women. This hypothesis was assessed using a t-test. Men ( M = 3.28, SD = .45) did believe that heroes respected authority more than women ( M = 2.65, SD = 2.45), t (289) = 2.61, p < .05. Thus, H1 was supported. ANOVA EXAMPLE Hypothesis 2 stated that there will be a main effect for sex such that men and women will differ on their perceptions of hero’s respect for authority. Hypothesis 2 was examined using a factorial ANOVA and was not supported. There was no main effect for sex. Men (M = 2.90)and women (M = 2.46) did not differ on their perception of hero’s respect for authority, F (1, 287) = 1.45, p > .05) Hypothesis 3 stated that there will be a main effect for the gender of the character such that male heroes will be perceived to uphold Authority more than female heroes.
