Axia College Material Appendix A Midterm Exam Access the Week Four Electronic Reserve Readings located under the materials section of your student website. Read, watch, and listen to the media presented on the Boston Tea Party. Write a paragraph of approximately 100 words for each section listed below. 1. Using the critical thinking skills you have gained so far and referring to the materials provided for this assignment, identify two possible strategies that Thomas Hutchinson or Samuel Adams likely used to develop and improve their thinking as those historical events unfolded prior to taking a stand and acting according to their beliefs. I think they may have looked at what was currently happening to their people, and decided they didn’t like it. It seems they both tried to make decisions that were outside the box. I believe they searched for the issues that others couldn’t find, and applied new ideas. They searched for solutions where others did not look. I believe they tried to approach each issue with an open and fair mind. They did not prejudge or form opinions without first researching the entire issue. 2. Explain the importance of building a foundation for critical and creative thinking when evaluating historical events such as the Boston Tea Party. The foundation is the base of any structure. This is the building point. With a sturdy foundation you can begin to build a sturdy building. You need a strong and practiced habit of looking at things creatively and critically. This means being open to new things, not prejudging others or their opinions, and learning to listen. With a strong foundation in creative and critical thinking, you are able to derive issues and solutions that others can not. There are to busy pushing one point of view rather then looking at more then one, and accepting new information. 3.
