Based on your reading of this play, write a wikipedia definition for “American Realism.” Consider form, language, and content. (5) American Realism – took the form of all avenues in the arts. This form is filled with imagery, narrative, characterization, dialect, and representations of 20 th century life. The goal of American Realism was to be a representation of the true 20 th century American life, dirt and all. 2. Using at least 2 specific examples from the text, discuss the irony of the title, Trifles .” (5) Trifle has the denotation of the small things, but more importantly it carries the connotation of meaningless things.
