They reflect on our unique personal life history and experience. When forming a cultural identity, it involves making choices about the cultures one identifies with and deciding to join the cultural community to which one belongs. Beliefs and practices of one or more communities can also be adapted. Every individual belongs to numerous overlapping and non-overlapping cultural groups. One can have different identities at different levels that make up their cultural identity. Racial Identity: Racial identity is defined as one's sense of self that is related to a racial group membership. It is usually associated with a person’s external physical traits. Race is also often used interchangeably with the term “ethnic group” Gender Identity: Gender is a socially constructed concept that refers to how a particular culture differentiates masculine and feminine social roles.
