Maat Personification of the fundamental order of the universe. It was the duty of the pharaoh was to uphold this order by maintaining the law and administering justice. Middle Kingdom The period in Egyptian history from 2100 to 1600 B.C.E. followed the First Intermediate Period. Monotheism
