PERSONALIZED NUTRITION AND EXERCISE PLAN 2 Personalized Nutrition and Exercise Plan Nutrition is not something that I have never thought about, not even after my anorexic phase of over three years, not even when I had cancer seven different times. When I discovered that I have acid reflux disease and irritable bowel syndrome I learned what I can and cannot eat, but never cared about how many calories went into my body or what my nutrient intake was. For that matter I did not really know what any of it meant. These types of different nutritional intake never crossed my mind until about week three into this class. Yes it took about three weeks for everything to trigger in my mind and make me aware of what I put into my body and what its effects possibly are to my body’s health and my thinking process. I found that with developing irritable bowel syndrome I can eat properly and have a healthier diet, which makes the symptoms subside without taking any more medications for the syndrome. I only take Prevacid 24HR, for the acid reflux disease. I am learning how to alter my diet to keep me away from all the medications and feel much better, my energy level is steady instead of staggered throughout the day. I am not saying I have a healthy diet because my job is so demanding and physical; I just cannot eat that much food in any given day. So sometimes I do eat high energy bars packed full of fiber and proteins to help fulfill my 2,400 calorie intake that is recommended for my energy output (MyPyramid, 2011). To obtain optimal health, I will engage in proper nutrient intake and engage in every day exercise that will strengthen my heart, which will help reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, and lungs. An improved sense of well being which in turn brings stress levels down and helps the mind cope with stressful situations better. In addition to the discipline to accomplish personal
